Missouri’s 2019-2020 deer hunting and fall archery turkey seasons ended Wednesday.

The Missouri Department of Conservation reports a preliminary total deer harvest of 285,483. One hundred thirty-three thousand nine hundred fourteen were antlered bucks, 27,931 button bucks, and 123,638 does.

Top harvest counties for the overall deer season were Franklin with 6,247 deer checked, Callaway with 5,703, and Texas with 5,157.

In the Green Hills area, top harvest counties were Harrison with 2,914 deer harvested, Linn with 2,697, and Putnam with 2,502. Others were Sullivan with 2,497, Daviess 2,286, Mercer 1,960, Livingston 1,828, Grundy 1,753, and Caldwell with 1,439.

Hunters harvested 290,224 deer during the 2018-2019 overall deer hunting season. The 2019-2020 deer hunting season ended with the close of the archery season. Preliminary data shows hunters checked 61,209 deer during the archery deer season.

Top counties for the archery season were Jefferson with 1,604 deer checked, Franklin with 1,294, and Saint Louis with 1,227.

In the Green Hills area, top counties were Putnam with 776, Harrison with 637, and Linn with 611. Others were Sullivan with 578, Mercer 548, Daviess 508, Grundy 360, Livingston 346, and Caldwell with 256.

Hunters checked 52,923 deer during the 2018-2019 archery season. Preliminary data indicates 2,406 turkeys were harvested during the fall archery turkey season.

Top counties were Callaway with 69 birds checked, Greene with 63, and Franklin with 62.

In the Green Hills, top counties were Sullivan with 42, Linn with 30, and Putnam with 26. Others were Harrison with 24, Livingston 23, Daviess 21, Caldwell and Mercer 12, and Grundy with nine.

Hunters harvested 2,055 turkeys during the 2018-2019 fall archery turkey season.
