Gallatin Board of Education sets staff salary base at $36,000 for next year

The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education, during its meeting on March 13th, approved updates to the 2024-2025 certified staff salary schedule. The starting salary will be set at $36,000.

Additionally, the board approved the Missouri Educators Unified Health Plan insurance renewal rates for the upcoming school year. Board Secretary Carrie Holcomb reported that the district will see an 8.5% increase in health savings account plans starting July 1. Furthermore, there will be an additional 1% increase in preferred provider organization plans. There were no increases in the Ameritas dental and vision, FTJ EyeMed vision, and Unum life insurance renewal rates.

The board also decided to invite Katherine Whitaker from the Missouri School Boards Association to discuss the district’s annual performance report at the April meeting.

Updates from the Missouri School Boards Association were accepted as presented.

Following a closed session, the board announced the approval of tenure for several staff members for the next school year, including Trisha Adkison, Jessica DeVaul, Amanda Harper, and Deanna Wiederholt.

Contracts for the next school year were offered to staff members identified as filling critical shortages: Eric Lewis, Shannon McBroom, and Amy McNeely.

Resignations from Brant Burns, Erin Creason, and Lena Ishmael, effective at the end of this school year, were accepted. Jim Wayne’s resignation will be effective March 15.

The board also accepted the resignations of Trisha Adkison from her position as varsity girls basketball head coach and Crystal Crose from her roles as varsity football and basketball cheer coach, both effective at the end of this school year.

New teaching positions for the next school year were offered to Rachel Hartley, Allison Smith, and Ashley Bardwell. Amy Holder was selected for the vocational agriculture teaching position, and Morgan Lee-McGinnis was added to the substitute teacher list.

All regular certified staff contracts were renewed for the next school year.
