The Gallatin Board of Aldermen approved two ordinances authorizing contracts and two quotes at its meeting on Monday evening.
The contracts are with Herzog Contracting Corporation for a street resurfacing project and Legendary Lawn Care, LLC for mowing service. One of the approved bids was from Fletcher-Reinhardt for 45 LED lights and 45 photocells for $5,186.25, which was the lowest of three bids submitted. The other approved bid was from FTC Equipment for two blowers and stands for the mixed liquor basin at the wastewater plant for $23,030.66, which was the lowest of two bids.
Public Works Director Mark Morey read previously estimated quotes collected in November to trade in a 75 horse skid loader for a 95 horse one. The board requested he officially go out for bid to trade in the skid loader for a high-flow as well as buying or renting a milling machine.
There was a discussion about selling the generators at the power plant. City Administrator Lance Rains reported United States Senator Roy Blunt will visit the new water plant May 4th. The board discussed a temporary water hydrant water meter for a commercial account.
Rains said the Gallatin City Hall received compliments on patching potholes.
Police Chief Mark Richards reported that he has spoken with property owners on code violations. The police department advises that the property owners use the upcoming bulk pickup to assist them in getting into compliance. The police will start issuing summons after May 1st for properties that still have code problems.
Illegal dumping at the city dump was discussed. The only permitted items to be burned at the dump are brush and limbs.
Penny Thomas with the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System presented an overview of the system.
The Gallatin Board of Aldermen tentatively moved its second council meeting in May from Memorial Day to May 28th.
