The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office conducted two fugitive investigations that resulted in arrests and arrested one additional individual on Tuesday.

Sheriff Steve Cox says one fugitive investigation by his office and Missouri Probation and Parole officers at a Chillicothe location resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Nicholas Duckworth of Chillicothe on a Missouri Parole warrant.

Duckworth was transported to the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail pending return to the Missouri Department of Corrections. Officers reported Duckworth was aggressive, and they almost deployed a taser to complete the arrest.

The sheriff’s office and Chillicothe Police Department assisted Probation and Parole officers on another fugitive investigation in the 1700 block of Litton Road after parole officers attempted contact for one person, and a known fugitive fled into an outbuilding.  Forty-three-year-old Barry Cooper of Chillicothe was allegedly hiding in the building and refusing to come out. Officers notified Cooper that K-9 Zaki was coming to the scene, Cooper surrendered, and he was arrested on a Livingston County warrant for alleged failure to obey a judge’s order on an original felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance. The warrant was dated December 17th, 2019, and his bond was set at $20,000 cash.

An item or items were found that are commonly associated with methamphetamine use in the area where Cooper hid and had access to plumbing. Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Jail records indicate Cooper was originally incarcerated on the warrant November 20th, 2019 and released on bond November 26th. Online court information shows Cooper is scheduled for the Associate Division of Livingston County Circuit Court on January 29th.

Incident reports for Duckworth and Cooper are to be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department also arrested 37-year-old Jared Livengood of Chillicothe on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged violation of bond conditions on an original charge of felony burglary.

Jail Management records show Livengood was first arrested on the charge August 22nd, 2019 and released the next day. He was then arrested on a warrant for alleged violation of bond conditions on the warrant November 15th and released on bond January 7th.

Livengood is at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail in lieu of bond. Online court information indicates a confined docket hearing is scheduled in Division One of Livingston County Circuit Court on Thursday, January 23rd.
