First case of COVID-19 reported in Macon County

The Macon County Health Department reports the first positive case of COVID-19 in Macon County.

The individual and others in close contact with the person are in self-quarantine. The health department notes it will not release more information due to privacy.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website does not yet show any confirmed cases in Macon County. As of Thursday, March 26, 2020, 502 confirmed cases in Missouri were listed on the DHSS website as well as eight deaths.

The Macon County Health Department asks that people who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 and may have been exposed to stay home to avoid transmission to others. They should call ahead to their doctor or the State of Missouri’s COVID-19 hotline at 877-435-8411.
