The Highway Patrol reports a man from Peculiar sustained serious injuries when the car he drove overturned one mile north of Holt overnight.

Twenty-two-year-old Caleb Vaughn traveled north on Interstate 35 when the vehicle ran off the east side of the road and struck a guardrail before overturning. The car came to rest on the east side of the road on its top and was totaled.

Emergency medical services transported Vaughn to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

An arrest report indicates Vaughn had been arrested in Clinton County earlier Wednesday night at 11:45 pm on several allegations and was released. The Patrol accused Vaughn of driving while intoxicated (drugs) and careless and imprudent driving as well as not wearing a seatbelt.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Holt EMS assisted at the scene of the crash.
