Daviess County Health Department Administrator Cheryl Alexander, Daviess County Commissioners, and Emergency Management Director David Roll have issued a public health mask advisory.

All persons at least two years old are advised to wear masks when in contact with others who are not household members. The advisory will begin on December 20th and be reviewed on January 20th.

Alexander says she hopes issuing the advisory slows the spread of COVID-19 in the community, businesses, and schools, as the number of cases has “continued to climb” over the past two months. She calls Daviess County’s positivity rate “high,” meaning there is a high level of transmission in the county. The state’s COVID-19 dashboard shows Daviess County’s seven-day positivity rate at 19.4 for December 9th through 15th.

Alexander encourages businesses to post signs at all entrances asking patrons to wear masks inside their facilities.
