Authorities were attempting to notify relatives of two persons killed Sunday morning in an accident three and a half miles east of Chillicothe, Missouri.

Sheriff Steve Cox reported the location was near the Pleasant Grove Church.

Information available from the Highway Patrol states the driver of a truck was 67-year-old Larry Braun of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. He sustained what the highway patrol called moderate injuries and was flown by a medical emergency helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.

Officers from the highway patrol and from its major crash investigation team reported Braun was eastbound at 9 a-m when the truck traveled off the south side of US Highway 36 and struck an embankment. The truck went airborne across LIV Road number 255 and came to rest on its top and was demolished.

The patrol report noted two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston County Coroner. No names have been released as of Sunday evening.

Assisting at the scene were other highway patrol troopers, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, and Chillicothe Emergency Medical Services.
