16-year-old sent to hospital following ATV crash near Norborne

A teenage driver sustained injuries in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident Tuesday evening in Ray County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on County Road West 88th Street near Norborne.

The 16-year-old, from Norborne, Missouri, was navigating a 2006 Honda TRX 400 north through a field when the ATV struck a ditch, resulting in the driver being ejected. The vehicle then overturned, coming to rest on the driver.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and the teen was transported to Children’s Mercy for treatment of injuries described as minor. The ATV sustained no damage and was driven from the scene. The report noted that the driver was not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the crash.

Ray County authorities assisted at the scene of the accident.
