The jury trial has been moved to Division One of Daviess County Circuit Court for the former Coffey City Clerk.

Online court information shows the trial dates of March 23rd through 25th were vacated Wednesday, and Mary Lou Browning’s case was continued to July 22nd through 24th for a jury trial. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for May 13th. Motions and jury instructions are to be filled prior to the pre-trial conference.

Browning has been charged with the felonies of stealing, $750 or more, stealing $25,000 or more, and two counts of forgery. The charges were filed against her in 2018 after an audit of Coffey by State Auditor Nicole Galloway that showed more than $60,000 missing from the city.

The audit accused Browning of failing to make deposits, receiving improper payroll payments, and falsifying board minutes and various financial reports during her time as a city clerk from September 2015 to August 2017.
