Trenton Mayor Jackie Soptic signed a proclamation on April 16 for National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, honoring Trenton Police Department’s communications officers. The declaration recognizes the communications officers’ commitment to serving the city and its residents.

The proclamation states that public safety telecommunicators “are the first and most critical contact citizens have with emergency services” and that they are “the single vital link for police officers, firefighters, and paramedics by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information, and ensuring their safety.” It also notes that Trenton’s public safety telecommunicators “have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients.”

Others in attendance at the mayor’s National Public Safety Telecommunications Week proclamation signing included Chief Communications Officer Sacha Snuffer; communications officers Rebecca Burks, Linsey Barner, and George Jackson; officers Bryan Roberts and Michael Williams; Police Chief Rex Ross; and Lieutenant Larry Smith.
