Pleasant View Board of Education accepts resignation, hires new paraprofessional

The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education voted to increase the district’s tax rate at a hearing on Tuesday evening. The rate was set at 480.94 cents or $4.80.94 which is up four-point seven-eight cents from the previous year.

During the regular meeting, the board approved the resignation of board member Luke Gibson due him moving out of the area. Tim Miller was sworn in as a new board member and Brenda Allnut was appointed as secretary.

The board approved Oneal Electric to restructure an electric pole as well as Nelson Heating and Cooling of Bethany to install a new air conditioner in the school’s cafeteria.

Other matters approved included the 2018-2019 Annual Secretary of the Board Report, State Transportation Report, 2019-2020 school bus routes, and free and reduced lunch guidelines.

There was a first reading of Missouri School Boards Association policies. Superintendent Rebecca Steinhoff reported on summer maintenance projects.

The library floor is finished and it was noted only half of the courtyard concrete was poured, but there are plans for it to be complete by the open house on Monday, August 19th at 6 o’clock. Parents and students are invited to meet teachers, unload school supplies, and partake in a picnic meal on the new courtyard at the open house.

The first day of school is next Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

In an executive session, the board accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Sara Bertram. Amanda Spears of Trenton was hired to fill the paraprofessional position.

Pending student applications for preschool through eighth grade were approved.
