Assistant Chillicothe Police Chief Rick Sampsel reports officers responded to a business in the 500 block of West Business Highway 36 on Friday evening in reference to a disturbance in which an Illinois man was being irate and was armed with a knife.

Officers contacted the individual who was yelling and alarming others before he was subdued and taken into custody. The man reportedly continued violent actions in the patrol car by banging his head on the security screen, trying to kick out the windows, and urinating in the vehicle. He was taken to Hedrick Medical Center and medically cleared for confinement to be incarcerated.

Sampsel notes the man defecated in the patrol unit as officers prepared to transport him.

He was taken to the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail to await the filing of charges and issuance of a warrant.
