Numerous awards and honors presented at annual Trenton FFA Banquet

Numerous awards and honors were presented during the annual Trenton FFA banquet Friday evening. The banquet concluded with the installation of officers for the 2019-20 school year.

The Trenton FFA President will be Grace Allen, Vice Presidents are Mackenzie McAtee and Allena Allen. Other officers are Secretary McKenna Cox, Treasurer Kayli Crawford, Sentinel Kidridge Griffin, Chaplain Logan Stanton, and three reporters: Jaycie Griffin, Camdyn Leeper, and Olivia Roberts.

Four members will serve as Junior FFA officers for next year and are Secretary Colton Roy, Treasurer Rebecca Urich, and reporters: Randy Bowden and Alison Yoder.

Star Awards were presented in four categories, Greenhands Colton Roy and Kaci Persell, Chapter Farmer Teresa Yoder; Star in Placement Mackenzie McAtee, as well as, Star in Agribusiness McKenna Cox.

Two members from each class received leadership or scholarship medals. Receiving medals for chapter leaders were Randy Bowden, Rebecca Urich, Kidridge Griffin, Olivia Roberts, Logan Stanton, Allena Allen, Teresa Yoder, and Melea Farmer. Those receiving scholarship medals were Colton Roy, Riley Walker, Eric Wong, Jaycie Griffin, Camryn Willey, Rillie Ratliff, Laura Carlson, and Nick Velazquez. The FFA Community Service Award went to Sara Carson. The Blue and Gold award was given to Allena Allen with the Black and Gold award going to Kayli Crawford.

Among other announcements at the banquet was the Kiwanis Loan going to Alison Yoder, the Frank Hoffman Memorial loan to Kaci Persell, the BTC Bank award to Kidridge Griffin and the Trenton FFA Alumni Scholarship to Hunter Beverlin.

Selected for the Washington DC leadership conference were five juniors including Grace Allen, Matthew Slater, Dolan Huber, Noah Lewis, and Logan Stanton.

The Jerry Whitney Memorial scholarship went to Melea Farmer, the Steinhoff scholarship to Nick Velazquez and the Brinser award for an outstanding senior went to Melea Farmer. Meservey FFA public speaking scholarships went to Camdyn Leeper, Alison Yoder, and Kaci Persell, the Black family award to an outstanding junior went to Grace Allen, the Washington leadership conference loan from the Black family was presented to Matthew Slater.

Brownfield Belt Buckle awards, presented by KTTN, went to Allena Allen and Dolan Huber and honorary FFA degrees were presented to Trenton R-9 instructor Suzi Beck and to area business BTC Bank.
