The North Mercer School Board decided to raise the teacher base salary at its meeting Monday evening.

The base salary was raised $500 to $28,000 and steps and credit for education will be awarded, and health care benefits will continue to be covered.

The board approved summer school, with the dates temporarily set for May 22 through June 7.

Summer projects were discussed, including regular maintenance projects and other things to be considered upon the Proposition C Waiver vote results on April 4.

The board employed varsity coaches Jeff Wyatt for boys basketball, Dan Owens for girls basketball, and Melissa Hill for softball.

All current teachers were employed for the 2017-2018 school year.

The board discussed the school transportation situation as Durham Bus Services will not serve the area with a nearby maintenance garage.

The board agreed to look into ending the current contract with Durham and begin a small cooperative with Princeton and possibly others for transportation services.
