The Highway Patrol reports no traffic fatalities were noted over the long New Year’s holiday weekend. The 78 hour counting period began last Thursday evening at 6 o’clock and concluded this past Sunday at midnight.

The Highway Patrol troopers across northern Missouri investigated 79 crashes during that period resulting in injuries for 21 people.

The northwest Missouri troop in St. Joseph reported ten were injured in 29 crashes, 16 people were arrested for driving while impaired, and troopers made four arrests for drugs.

The northeast Missouri troop at Macon reported 11 injuries from 50 crashes. Troopers arrested seven people for driving while intoxicated.

Statewide, over 400 New Year’s holiday weekend accidents involved injuries for 91 people. A total of 94 arrests were made across the state for driving while intoxicated.
