A Milan resident received minor injuries in a crash on Wednesday afternoon one mile east of Green Castle.
Forty-nine-year-old Maria Esquivel was taken by private auto to the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Alejandro Lopez Gonzalez of Milan who wasn’t hurt.
The vehicle was eastbound when another eastbound vehicle attempted to pass on a hill crest into oncoming traffic, forcing Lopez Gonzalez’s vehicle to leave Highway 6 and strike an embankment.
Vehicle damage was extensive and both occupants were using seat belts.
