Mary Jane Campbell, aged 93, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.

Mary was born the daughter of Grover and Ella (James) Laffey on May 25, 1930, in Daviess County, Missouri. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamesport High School. After graduation, she attended Maryville State Teachers College. Mary was united in marriage to Lewis C. Campbell on May 1, 1949, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2016. She taught school in Grundy County for one year. She then worked as a teacher’s aide for the Chillicothe R-II School District from 1967 until 1970 and for the State Training School for Girls from 1970 until 1979. Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and volunteering in the preschool area. Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Campbell and his wife Vicky of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, David Campbell of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Michael Campbell and his wife Jill of Otterville, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters-in-law, Pam Campbell and Mary Ellen Campbell; three brothers, Fred, Mack, and Pat Laffey; and four sisters, Ruth Thompson, Dorothy Critten, Lula Smith, and Delores Lockridge.

Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
