The Jamesport City Council approved three ordinances on April 8.

The first ordinance involved regulating parking along a portion of Olive Street which stipulates that no one should stop, stand, or park a vehicle on the west side of Olive Street within the public right of way from the intersection of Main Street to the intersection of Gillilan Street. This restriction applies except temporarily for the loading or unloading of merchandise or passengers, when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with the law, the directions of a police or law enforcement officer, or an official traffic control device.

The other two ordinances pertained to the acceptance of the results of the retail sales tax on adult-use marijuana at 3% and the use tax for online sales for the City of Jamesport at 1.5%.

Mayor Dana Urton conducted the swearing-in of Council Member Brandon Robb. Council Member Rob Murphy was absent from the meeting.

Urton announced that the appointments would remain the same as the previous year, with Geoff Eads serving as street commissioner, Brandon Robb overseeing the cemetery, Rob Murphy handling finance, and Earle Wright acting as the mayor pro-tem.

The council also addressed the issue of the city’s dump truck, approving to solicit bids for its sale.

Finally, the council confirmed the previous month’s discussion regarding the code enforcement officer’s hours. It was decided to allocate 10 hours per month to this role to evaluate the effectiveness of the project for Jamesport.
