Grundy R-5 Board of Education reviews insurance coverage

The Grundy County R-5 Board of Education reviewed the Missouri United School Insurance Council umbrella insurance options for the district on Wednesday evening. A purchase was approved for an additional umbrella policy of $4,000,000 costing $1,133.

The 2018-2019 audit was approved, with no concerns expressed by the auditor.

The board reviewed prices to replace copiers when the lease expires in March and directed the administration to continue to evaluate bids and bring more information to the January meeting. The vocational agriculture program evaluation was approved.

A transportation report was presented, which included a review of a new school bus purchased from the Tina-Avalon School District for $3,000. There were updates on the foodservice review to be held on Thursday and Parents as Teachers.

After a closed session, it was announced the board approved two hirings including Kelli Urton as the district Parents as Teachers coordinator and Jeanette Hudson as an elementary paraprofessional.

The superintendent evaluation was conducted, and the board voted to offer a one-year contract to Phil Fox for the 2020-2021 school year. Salary is to be determined later.
