Family hurt in crash northeast of Lathrop

The Highway Patrol reports a family from Zion, Illinois was transported by ambulance to the Cameron Regional Medical Center after an accident in Clinton County Monday night.

Forty-seven-year-old Tracy Pennell drove on northbound Interstate 35 when the family’s car lost a wheel about two miles northeast of Lathrop. Tracy Pennell lost control of the vehicle before it went off the right side of the road, struck a guard rail, went back onto the road, and came to rest blocking the northbound driving lane. The car was totaled.

Tracy Pennell and his passengers, wife 28-year-old Rebecca Pennell and three-year-old daughters Harmonie, Paradise, and Patience Pennell sustained minor injuries.

The Patrol reports they all wore seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and the Lathrop Fire Department assisted at the scene.
