Two Cameron residents sustained injuries when a subcompact car struck the towed unit of a tractor-trailer at Highway 36 and Mitchell Avenue in Chillicothe on Friday night.

The driver of the car, 47-year-old Brandi Newcomer, and passenger, a 12-year-old girl, were taken by ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center. The Patrol called the girl’s injuries moderate and Newcomer’s minor. The tractor-trailer driver, 67-year-old Stanislav Mraz of Winter Park, Florida, was reported as not injured.

The truck traveled north while crossing the westbound lanes of Highway 36 onto Mitchell Avenue and reportedly traveled into the path of the car headed west on Highway 36. Newcomer steered left but struck the towed unit of the truck. The car came to rest in the passing lane of westbound U. S. 36, and the tractor-trailer came to a controlled stop on Mitchell Avenue.

The car received extensive damage, and the truck had minor damage. The drivers and car, as well as the passenger, wore seat belts.

The Chillicothe Police Department, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene of the crash.
