Big rig and Dodge Caravan collide on Highway 36 east of Monroe City

An accident on Highway 36, three miles east of Monroe City, Missouri, resulted in minor injuries on April 15, 2024, at 5:50 p.m.

The incident involved a 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by Danielle L. Altheide, 32, of Quincy, Illinois, and a 2015 Peterbilt 579 truck tractor operated by Bradley W. White, 36, of Shelbina, Missouri. Both vehicles were traveling westbound at the time of the collision.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Dodge Caravan was attempting a left turn from the driving lane when it struck the Peterbilt truck. The impact caused moderate damage to the Caravan, which was subsequently towed from the scene by Courtesy Towing. The Peterbilt truck sustained minor damage but was able to be driven away.

Danielle L. Altheide suffered minor injuries and was transported by Monroe City Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. Both drivers were reported to be wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by the Monroe City Fire and Ambulance services, responded to the incident.
