Bethany woman seriously injured in motorcycle collision near Gilman City

A serious collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck occurred on Route CC near Gilman City, Missouri, on Saturday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at approximately 1:44 p.m. on April 14, 2024, when a 1997 GMC Sierra, driven by 73-year-old Lloyd D. Johnson of Gilman City, was stopped at a stop sign on Route MM. As Johnson turned north onto Route CC, his truck collided with a southbound 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcycle, operated by 56-year-old Susan B. Habben of Bethany, Missouri, sustained extensive damage and came to rest on its side off the east side of Route CC. Habben was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to Harrison County Community Hospital by NTA Ambulance and later airlifted to University Health by Life Flight Eagle.

Johnson, who also had his seat belt fastened, drove the GMC Sierra from the scene with minor damage. Both drivers were insured, Johnson with American Family Insurance and Habben with Grinnell Mutual Insurance.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
