The number of traffic fatalities in 2019 across Missouri is down compared to the previous two years. Statistics on the Highway Patrol website show 866 traffic deaths were investigated by troopers in 2019. which compares to 921 deaths in 2018 and 932 in the year 2017 in Missouri.

Within the nine-county Green Hills Region, there were 16 traffic fatalities during last year. That’s three fewer than in 2018 and seven fewer than in 2017. (with 23 then) The breakdown among area counties, Grundy experienced four traffic fatalities in 2019 – three were investigated by the highway patrol and one by Trenton Police.

Statistics kept by KTTN show three fatalities were noted in Sullivan County; two each in Daviess, Harrison, and Putnam counties; and one apiece for Caldwell, Linn, Livingston counties. No traffic fatality accidents occurred last year in Mercer County.

On Sunday night, Caldwell County experienced the first two traffic fatalities within the Green Hills this year. Both victims are 14-year-old boys from Polo. Names were not released by the highway patrol because of their juvenile status.
