Crowder State Park Resource Manager Anna Persell presented a brief history of the park and what it offers at the Trenton Rotary Club meeting Thursday.

Crowder was established in 1937 and Persell said it has more than 1,900 acres of land, which includes 17 miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails.

The park has a group camp area, which can accommodate up to 120 persons and includes six cabins, an infirmary cabin, and a dining hall and kitchen. Crowder also provides a campground and tent camping.

Persell added that the park offers backpacking, fishing, boating, swimming, naturalist programs, First Day Hikes, dutch oven cooking, Toddler Tuesdays, and other programs in the amphitheater area from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

During the business meeting, it was announced that Group Study Exchange team participants from the district will go to Chile in April.

The deadline for participants to apply is October 2.
