Two Trenton residents and one Maryville man sustained injuries when one pickup truck struck another two miles east of Arkoe Tuesday morning.

The Highway Patrol reports 74-year-old Thomas Metzgar of Trenton drove west on Route VV when he failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection with Route N. Sixty-eight year old Robert Autem of Maryville traveled north on Route N and struck the driver’s side of Metzgar’s pickup.

Both vehicles ran off the northwest side of the intersection. Autem’s truck came to rest on its wheels facing south, and Metzgar’s vehicle came to rest on its passenger’s side facing southwest. Both were totaled.

Metzgar and his passenger, 66-year-old Connie Metzgar of Trenton were transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Maryville with moderate injuries. A private vehicle transported Autem to St. Francis Hospital with what the Patrol called minor injuries.

The Patrol reports all involved wore seat belts at the time of the accident.

The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office, the Nodaway County Ambulance, and the Barnard Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
