Princeton City Council discusses water project bids, unveils RV park plans for ball field

The Princeton City Council, on April 8, approved a service contract related to Calamity Jane Days. Deputy City Clerk Jami McLain reported that the contract was valued at $1,400 for the Hired Gun band to perform at the Calamity Jane Days Car Show on the third weekend in September.

Philip Wilson from McClure Engineering presented three bid recommendations for upcoming water projects. These recommendations are contingent upon approval from the Department of Natural Resources.

Tammy Hart, representing the Princeton Arena Association, outlined plans for a new RV park to be located at the site of the former ball field. McLain highlighted that the council had previously approved the project, pending the submission of detailed plans before commencement.

The Mercer County Area Development Corporation announced its application for a recreation grant aimed at introducing a pickleball court to the existing tennis courts.

County Commissioner Cheston Easter introduced Jeff Spencer as the new sheriff of Mercer County.

Additionally, the council decided to advertise for another part-time seasonal employee and announced their attendance at training in Maryville on May 10.

The meeting began with Doug Stark being sworn in as mayor, followed by the swearing-in of Karee Cunningham and Tony Johnson as city council members.
