The Livingston County Health Center in Chillicothe will hold a Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Class starting next month.

The class will be for seniors age 60 and older and individuals living with arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other conditions that cause balance problems and joint pain. Instructors Mary Taylor and Ann Burchett will hold a free demonstration class in the Health Center classroom the morning of May 4th at 10 o’clock.

The weekly one-hour Tai Chi classes will be held Monday and Thursday mornings at 10 o’clock from May 7th to July 19th. Tai Chi for Arthritis is a low impact form of exercise using gentle movements that put minimal stress on muscles and joints. Tai Chi can help reduce the prevalence of falls, the fear of falling, and stress; improve balance, mobility, and posture; and increase leg strength.

There is a $20 cost to attend the class series, but participants who attend 50% of the classes will get a refund of the registration fee. Registration will remain open for two weeks from the first class for those who missed signing up.

Call the Livingston County Health Center at 660-646-5506 to register or for more information.
