Grundy R-5 Board of Education approves lunch prices, accepts resignation

The Grundy County R-5 Board of Education approved a tax levy for the district at the monthly meeting held on Tuesday evening.

The tax rate was set at $5,92.07 cents on the $100 of assessed valuation which is the same as last year.

During the regular meeting, the board set lunch prices for the 2019-2020 school year. The price was raised to $2.50 for the elementary school and $2.60 for the high school. The eligibility criteria was approved for free and reduced lunches.

Other items approved included the state special education compliance model for the district, preliminary bus route for the school year, the Annual Secretary of the Board Report, and changes to the high school and elementary school handbooks.

A transportation report was presented regarding bus and driver readiness and a report was also presented on the new bus radios and bases that were installed. There was a discussion about the purchase of a van for school use. The board directed the administration to investigate and purchase a van. A report was presented on the Grundy R-5 audit August 5th and a maintenance update was provided on the school buildings.

There was a first reading of three policy updates from the Missouri Consultants for Education.

In an executive session, paraprofessional Jessica Parsons resignation was approved. Extra duty contracts were approved for Jessica Gannon as a bus monitor at a rate of $10.00 per hour and for Jennifer Dyer to teach fifth and sixth-grade math at the elementary school.
