The Chillicothe Police Depareportingreportiong individiuals of juvenile age are believed responsible for the Saturday afternoon fire in a small playground area of Simpson Park.
A news release notes the information on the incident, and suspects, has been forwarded to the Livingston County Juvenile office.
When police and the Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services arrived at the park, a wooden fence was on fire, rubber chips used for ground cover and the plastic rock climbing wall had also caught on fire.
The blaze was extinguished and the state fire marshal’s office was contacted and is completing their investigation.
There are reports that damages were estimated to total $30,000.
