An accident involving two vehicles occurred on Highway 69 near Altamont, leaving two people injured, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 10:08 a.m. on March 17, 2024, just west of Altamont near the ramp at 3600, approximately four miles from town.
The collision involved a 2021 Subaru Impreza driven by Cathleen M. Dedonder, 61, of Topeka, Kansas, and a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Melissa I. Lee, 37, of Cameron, Missouri. According to the report, Dedonder’s Subaru was southbound on-ramp 3599 attempting to cross Highway 69 when it failed to stop at the stop sign, leading to the collision with Lee’s northbound Ford F-150.
The impact caused the Subaru Impreza to come to rest on Highway 69 facing north, while the Ford F-150 traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck a guardrail, finally coming to rest on ramp 3600 facing east. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the Subaru described as a total loss and the Ford F-150 sustaining moderate damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Bridgeman’s.
Melissa I. Lee suffered serious injuries and was transported by Cameron EMS to Liberty Hospital. A 13-year-old male passenger in the Ford F-150, also from Cameron, Missouri, sustained minor injuries and was taken by Daviess County EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Both Lee and the juvenile were using seat belts at the time of the crash.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with Sgt. J.M. Cross, Conservation Officer J. Ohara, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Daviess County EMS, and Cameron EMS, responded to the scene.
