Two arrested for attempting to obtain a narcotic from Trenton pharmacy

Two Chicago, Illinois residents accused of attempting to obtain Phenergan with Codeine from Evercare Pharmacy of Trenton have been charged in Grundy County.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reports 25-year-old Pierre Celestine and 42-year-old George Ernie Almond were arrested by the Trenton Police Department Tuesday. They are each charged with felony fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance. Celestine is also charged with possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid of 10 grams or less—prior drug offense.

Almond’s bond is $20,000 cash only, and Celestine’s is $10,000 cash only. Both are scheduled for the Associate Division of Grundy County Circuit Court on February 11th.

Court documents accuse Celestine and Almond of acting in concert with each other in attempting to obtain the drug, with Celestine doing so by fraud and Almond doing so by driving a rental car from Chicago. Celestine is also accused of possessing marijuana.

Court information indicates Celestine was previously found guilty of driving under the influence/drugs and marijuana possession in McDonough County, Illinois Circuit Court in May 2014.

Almond is considered to be a prior drug offender and persistent offender, in that he was convicted of the felonies of delivery of a controlled substance in May 1998, possession of a controlled substance in December 2005 and October 2006, and manufacturing/delivery of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance in May 2008, all in the Circuit Court of Illinois.

The Trenton Police Department reports information obtained from the department’s investigation will be shared statewide for possible related incidents. Anyone with drug information or complaints about suspicious activities in a neighborhood is encouraged to contact the police at 359-2121.
