Sergeant Dustin Woelfle of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about two prevalent scams targeting residents.

Woelfle disclosed that a resident recently received a fraudulent Medicare enrollment card through the mail. The resident, suspecting foul play, reached out to authorities to verify its authenticity and confirmed it was a scam.

In addition, scammers have been impersonating staff members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, using real names and titles to lend credibility to their deceit. Residents receiving calls from individuals claiming to represent the sheriff’s office and requesting money should immediately contact the sheriff’s office at 660-646-0515 or 660-646-2121 to report the incident and verify the authenticity of the call.

Sergeant Woelfle emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant and protecting sensitive information from such fraudulent activities.
