Portions of Green Hills grappling with increasing drought conditions

Portions of the Green Hills are experiencing abnormally dry and moderate drought conditions, according to this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor Map, released Thursday morning, March 28, based on conditions as of Tuesday morning, March 26.

Moderate drought covers most of Harrison County, northwest Daviess County, and about the eastern half of Linn County. Abnormally dry conditions cover eastern Harrison County, the rest of Daviess County, most of the rest of Linn County, most of Caldwell and Grundy counties, northwest and southeast Livingston County, part of western and southeast Sullivan County, northern and western Mercer County, and northern Putnam County.

Parts of the rest of Missouri are also experiencing abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions. There is severe drought in some areas of Southeast Missouri.

Abnormally dry or drought conditions cover 76.32% of the state, which is 12.71% less than last week.

As of Thursday morning, March 28, Trenton was 0.77 inches behind the average for precipitation year to date. Trenton received 0.12 inches of rain for the week ending Tuesday morning, March 26.
