Pleasant View Board of Education increases base salary of certified staff

The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education at a meeting Tuesday evening approved an increase to the base pay of certified teachers.

The base pay of certified teachers was increased by $500 to $29,000 and the board also approved a 25 cent per hour raise to all non-certified hourly employees as well as increasing the starting wages of paraprofessionals and the assistant cook to $10 per hour.

New board member Jack Bethards was sworn in for his three-year term. Board officers were approved with Danny Westcott as President, David Meservey as Vice President, Jeff Berti as Treasurer, and Jill Reeter as Secretary.

The board approved all Missouri School Boards Association updates.

Retiring board member Amy Harris was not at the meeting, but she was recognized for her years of service to the Pleasant View R-6 School District.

In a closed session, the board approved rehiring all non-certified and part-time certified employees for the 2018-2019 school year. It also approved Linda Ahren of Trenton and Kim Foster of Laredo as full-time elementary teachers for next school year. Extra duty contracts were tabled until the May board meeting.

The board agreed to increase Superintendent Rebecca Steinhoff’s annual salary to $58,500.
