Mabel Hayner Obit photoMabel Lea Hayner, 100, of Princeton, MO (formerly of Lee’s Summit, MO) passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at a Trenton, MO hospital.

She was born on January 21, 1924, in Herndon, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Cyrus and Emily Ella (Alexander) Crowder.

Mabel was a graduate of Marshall High School in 1941. She married Leo Phillips, and they later divorced. In 1972, she married Charles Sterling Hayner, who preceded her in death in 2003. She worked at Hallmark Cards for 32 years and retired in 1986. She was also a devoted farmer’s wife and enjoyed participating in her United Methodist Women’s Group, Wesley’s Sunday School classes, St. Luke’s Quilter’s Group, and crocheting many items for the cancer association. Her hobbies included reading and gardening.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Emily Pearl Kenagy; stepson, Frank Hayner; infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Kenagy; sister, Ruby Shull; and brothers, Marvin and Cyrus Crowder.

Mabel is survived by her grandchildren, Ryan (Aimee) Kenagy of Princeton, MO, Robert Kenagy, and Madalyn Kenagy; great-grandchildren, Slade (Alyssa) Kenagy of Cameron, MO, Colton (Morgan) Kenagy of Cameron, MO; great-great-grandchildren, Emily and Allie Kenagy, and Rhett Kenagy; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Princeton Methodist Church, Princeton, MO, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, MO.
