The Laredo Fire Protection District responded to a fire on the ground on Route V three miles north of Laredo on Thursday morning. Kenny Meeker with the fire department reports the fire on John Engleman’s land was rekindled from Wednesday.
Meeker says hardly anything burned on Wednesday, but Thursday’s fire involved several bales of hay in a ditch. A firefighter used a bale mover on a pickup truck to pick up the bales and roll them out.
Firefighters were on the scene for about one hour. Meeker notes it appears Wednesday’s fire started by ashes being thrown out.
