Firefighters from Jamesport and Grundy County Rural responded to a sawdust pile on fire on Route F just east of Jamesport on Thursday afternoon.

Jamesport Fire Chief Davey Davis reports the Beechy Sawmill was burning materials, and the fire got out of hand due to the wind.

Jamesport Fire and Rescue had two tankers, two bucket trucks, a pumper, and seven personnel on the scene. Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District responded with a pumper, tanker, brush truck, and four firefighters. Crews were at the scene for about two and a half hours.

Davis notes no structures were harmed, and there were no injuries. He urges the public to avoid burning when there is high wind.
