Helmetless rider hospitalized with serious injuries after crash near Stanberry

On April 13, 2024, at 7:50 p.m., a motorcycle accident occurred on Highway 169, four miles south of Stanberry, Missouri. The involved vehicle, a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, was traveling northbound when the crash transpired.

David A. Bartholomew, a 54-year-old male from Des Moines, Iowa, was operating the motorcycle. According to reports, Bartholomew’s motorcycle crossed the center line, began skidding, and subsequently overturned. The motorcycle came to a halt on its side, facing west on the southbound shoulder of Highway 169.

Bartholomew sustained serious injuries as he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Emergency services responded to the scene and Bartholomew was transported by Grand River EMS to Mosaic St. Joseph for medical care.

The motorcycle suffered total damage and was removed from the scene by Raymond Smith’s Towing.

Trooper A.M. Mapel investigated the crash with assistance from the Gentry County Sheriff’s Department.
