Confirmed case of COVID-19 reported in Daviess County

A Daviess County resident has been confirmed positive for COVID-19.

The Daviess County Health Department reports the resident is in isolation at home and is in contact with health officials. The person’s name will not be released due to HIPAA regulations. Close contacts to the person have already been notified. The health department notes that if someone has not been notified, he or she is not a close contact.

The Daviess County Health Department has prepared for the situation, and it is taking action under local, state, and federal guidelines. The public is asked to continue to follow protocols to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.

As of 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2020, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported there have been more than 3,500 cases of COVID-19 and 77 deaths caused by the virus in Missouri.
