Two-car crash on Highway 6 sends 17-year-old Milan girl to hospital

A crash on Highway 6 in Novinger, in Adair County, resulted in the hospitalization of a 17-year-old girl from Milan, Missouri, on March 15, 2024, at around 4:50 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident involved a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by the juvenile and a 1997 Dodge Pickup driven by 61-year-old David E. Novinger of Novinger, Missouri. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the Malibu failed to yield and struck the rear of the pickup.

The driver of the Malibu sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Adair County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The Dodge Pickup sustained minor damages and was able to be driven from the scene, while the Chevrolet Malibu suffered extensive damage and was towed by Anesi Towing. David E. Novinger, the driver of the pickup, was unharmed in the collision and was using a seat belt.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff’s Department, Kirksville Fire Department, and Novinger Fire Department in response to the crash.
