Mercer County Announces candidates for 2024 Primary Election

Mercer County has officially released the list of candidates for the upcoming August 6, 2024, Primary Election. The filings, which are still open and not yet certified, include a wide range of positions from First District Commissioner to Township Committeeman across several townships. The deadline for candidate filing is March 26, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., with final certification slated for May 28, 2024.

For the position of First District Commissioner, the Republican (REP) candidates include Denny Power, Lance Stiles, and Amy Cool. The Second District Commissioner race also sees a Republican lineup with Michael Ralston, Jerod VanGenderen, and Gary N. Porter throwing their hats into the ring.

The Sheriff’s position currently has no listed candidates. Dana Widner is running for Assessor, and Susan Moore is the candidate for County Collector/Treasurer. Kelli Judd is the sole candidate for Public Administrator, while Doug Priest is running for Coroner.

In township positions, Somerset Township sees REP candidates Shelley Bickel and Ron Bickel running for Township Committeewoman and Committeeman, respectively. Marion Township’s candidates are Debra Hartley and Joe Hartley for the same positions. Lindley Township has Connie S. McGuire and Jerry McGuire, and Ravanna Township includes Suzie Ormsby and Mike Ormsby. Washington Township sees James Stamper and Patricia Stamper, while Medicine Township and Madison Township have Linda J. Holt, and Dena Reger and Greg Reger, respectively.
