January unemployment figures rise across north Missouri counties

January unemployment rates are higher for several counties in this area.

Grundy County’s rate is 4.2 percent, based on 166 persons receiving unemployment out of a civilian labor force of 3,960. December’s jobless rate for Grundy County was 2.9 percent. January 2023 had a rate of 3.2 percent.

January rates in area counties range from 5.1 percent in Adair and 5 percent in both Sullivan and Linn counties to 3.3 percent in Livingston and Gentry counties.

Other counties and their unemployment rates include:

  • Chariton at 3.5 percent;
  • Mercer and Worth at 3.7 percent;
  • DeKalb at 3.8 percent;
  • Caldwell County at 3.9 percent;
  • Clinton at 4 percent;
  • Daviess and Carroll at 4.1 percent;
  • Putnam at 4.2 percent;
  • Harrison County at 4.4 percent.

Missouri’s not seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate is 3.8 percent, up from 3.2 percent in January 2023.
