The investigation continues in Livingston County on a possible card skimmer used locally.
Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says a resident reported having his or her debit card fraudulently used in October at multiple locations in Illinois for a combined total of $1,057.41.
Cox notes the victim believes their debit card information may have been stolen when the card was used at a local gas station in September. He reports that there may be other residents with fraudulent use of their credit or debit cards if a card skimmer was placed at a gas station.
He advises residents to “keep an eye on” their debit and credit card statements.
