Grundy, Sullivan and Mercer counties prepare for Primary with full candidate list

Grundy County will have two races for the August 6th Primary Election. Incumbents Don Sager and Kevin Ireland filed for First District Commissioner. Bryan Johnson and incumbent Brad Chumbley filed for Second District Commissioner.

Other candidate filings for Grundy County are Dewayne Slater for Coroner, Adria Moore for Public Administrator, Rodney Herring for Sheriff, Nathan Curtis for Assessor, and Michelle Geib for Collector-Treasurer.

All of the candidates filed as Republicans.

Candidate filings have also been announced for Sullivan County.

Three candidates each filed for Sheriff and Western District Commissioner. The candidates for Sheriff are Scott Frazier, Brian Salsberry, and Cody Perkins, all of whom filed as Republicans. The candidates for Western District Commissioner are Republicans Michael Williams and Douglas Fleshman, and Democrat Scott Hollon.

The candidates for Eastern District Commissioner are Republican Rye Page and Democrat John Buell.

Assessor candidates are Angel Oder and Stephanie King, both of whom filed as Republicans.

Other candidates for Sullivan County’s August 6th Primary Election are John Brummitt for Public Administrator, Jennifer Russell for Recorder-Collector, and Robert Wyant for Coroner, all of whom filed as Republicans.

Candidate filings have also been announced for Mercer County for the August 6th Primary Election.

Three candidates each filed for the First and Second District Commissioner positions. The candidates for First District Commissioner are Denny Power, Lance Stiles, and Amy Cool. The candidates for Second District Commissioner are Michael Ralston, Jerod VanGenderen, and Gary Porter.

Other candidate filings for Mercer County are Dana Widner for Assessor, Susan Moore for Collector-Treasurer, Kelli Judd for Public Administrator, and Doug Priest for Coroner.

All these candidates filed as Republicans.

Randy Francis had previously filed for Sheriff but withdrew his candidacy on March 25th. Mercer County Clerk Judy Hamilton reports the county commission will seek legal counsel in November regarding how to handle the sheriff vacancy.
