Area schools dominate at Savannah FFA ag competition

Savannah hosted agriculture contests on Monday, and several schools had judging teams that scored at the top of various categories. Among them:

  • Gilman City was first in agronomy and farm management.
  • Chillicothe was first in food science, livestock, and FFA knowledge.
  • Gallatin took first place in forestry.
  • Winston was first in poultry.
  • North Harrison was first in meats.
  • Cameron took first in entomology.

Several FFA teams took second place in various contests at Savannah. Among them:

  • Trenton was second in meats.
  • Princeton was second in horses.
  • Gallatin took second in nursery/landscape, livestock, and soils.
  • Chillicothe was second in poultry, farm management, and ag sales.
  • Polo was second in FFA knowledge.
  • Cameron was second in ag mechanics.

Among schools with teams finishing in third place in the Savannah judging:

  • Trenton was third in ag sales.
  • Gallatin was third in ag mechanics.
  • North Harrison took third in agronomy.
  • Maysville was third in livestock and FFA knowledge.
  • Cameron took third in horses.

Individually, first-place judges from area schools include Ethan Elder and Alex Young of Gilman City in farm management and soils; North Harrison students Dillon Hartschen and Lela Hartschen in meats and agronomy; Emma Christopher of Gallatin in forestry; Marsha Uthe of Winston in poultry; Aubrie Burton of Chillicothe in livestock.
