In April, the Friends of the Library will hold its annual book sale at the Grundy County Jewett Norris Library in Trenton.
The sale will begin on the morning of April 8 for Friends of the Library members. It will be open to the general public from noon until 6 p.m. The book sale will then be available during regular library hours for the remainder of the week.
Friends of the Library Treasurer Cathie Smith says hardback books will be priced at $1, and paperbacks at 50 cents.
Friends of the Library Secretary Barb Spencer notes that children’s books will be priced at 25 cents.
The sale will also feature puzzles, games, VHS tapes, CDs, and other types of media.
New items will be added daily. Specials will be announced throughout the week on KTTN-FM.
Bag Day will occur on April 13 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Spencer states that donations for the sale are welcome throughout the year and can be delivered to the library during its operating hours. Donations are also accepted during the sale.
The Friends of the Library is seeking volunteers for the book sale. It is not necessary to be a member to volunteer.
Smith reports that Hy-Vee supplies the library with banana boxes for the sale. Spencer adds that about 150 to 200 boxes, each weighing 30 to 40 pounds, are packed. North Central Missouri College men’s basketball players assist by moving the boxes from the fourth floor to the sale area, where they are then unpacked.

The Friends of the Library for the Grundy County Jewett Norris Library will pay tribute to two retirees at its annual dinner next week. Doors will open on April 5 at 5:30 p.m., with service beginning on the main floor of the library at 6 p.m.
Friends of the Library Treasurer Cathie Smith announces that Library Director Theresa Hunsaker and Doris Baker are retiring at the end of April. Hunsaker has contributed 14 years of service to the library, and Baker has been part of the library staff for 47 years.
Smith reveals that Library Employee Cindy Foster will be speaking at the dinner.
Great Western Dining will be catering the event. The dinner will cost $15 per person.
Membership fees can be paid at the dinner, with membership priced at $20 per person annually.
Reservations for the Friends of the Library annual dinner on April 5 can be made by contacting Smith at 660-635-1371 or visiting the library. Please make reservations by April 3.
The Grundy County Jewett Norris Library will also host a cake and punch reception for Hunsaker and Baker on April 15 from 3 to 5 p.m.
