Top high school scholars recognized in GRC West Scholar Bowl selections

The Grand River Conference West has officially unveiled its All-Conference Scholar Bowl selections for the 2023-24 season. This year’s teams highlight the top high school scholars who have excelled in academic competitions throughout the season.

The 1st Team accolades were awarded to five standout students. Jackson Cline, a junior from St. Joseph Christian, along with Princeton senior Colby Hagen, and Wyatt Holt, a junior from North Andrew, led the selections. They were joined by Cooper Mooney, a sophomore from King City, and Hudson Groomer, a freshman representing Stanberry.

The 2nd Team features a mix of talent, including Princeton’s junior Seth Weathington and senior Raven Gillespie from Albany. Princeton senior Sage Tudeen, alongside Morgan Graff, a senior from King City, and Ethan Frese, a senior from Worth County, were also selected. Tanner Williams, a junior from Albany, completes the 2nd Team lineup.

In addition to the first and second teams, several students received Honorable Mentions for their contributions to their teams. These include Gage Iddings, a senior from Pattonsburg; Karson Wilmes, a sophomore from North Andrew; Brayden Nail and Ruby Heintz, both seniors from North Harrison; and Jonah Elderhorst, a junior from St. Joseph Christian.

The final standings for the season were tightly contested, with King City, Princeton, and St. Joseph Christian all tying for the top spot with a 7-1 record. North Andrew followed with a 5-3 record, while Albany secured a middle-of-the-pack finish at 4-4. North Harrison, Stanberry, Worth County, and Pattonsburg rounded out the standings, showcasing the competitive spirit and academic prowess within the conference.
