Robert Lee “Big Bob” Cummings, age 65, of Jamesport, passed away on Sunday evening, April 14, 2024, at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, MO, following a long battle with cancer.
Bob was born on March 12, 1959, to Lovell Cecil “Chub” and Waneva Karol (Fitch) Cummings in Jamesport, MO. He was a member of the Jamesport Baptist Church, where he was baptized. Except for the two years he served in the Army, Bob was a lifelong resident of the hometown he cherished. He graduated from Tri-County High School in 1977. After high school, he served in the United States Army. Bob had a passion for farming, assisting area farmers during planting and harvest seasons. He also transported the Amish and worked at MFA in Gallatin. An avid cook, Bob enjoyed barbecuing, grilling, and baking, and was known for sharing the cookies he baked. Family was central to Bob’s life, especially his love for his nieces and nephews. Known for his large stature and even larger heart, he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
Bob was predeceased by his father and twin grandchildren, Kenneth Lee and Keisha Lorraine. Survivors include his mother, Waneva of Jamesport; siblings, Lynda (Steve) Brewer, Teresa (Bill) Parker, and Randy Cummings, all of Jamesport; grandsons, Zachariah Lute and Cody Carver; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, other extended family members, and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery, care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Jamesport Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, also at the church. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery, near Jamesport.
